Invasion Games
Tag Rugby
In Year 6, the children have been learning the discipline Invasion, with the focus on Tag Rugby. In their lessons, the children have learnt the skills required to play Tag Rugby. During the lessons, the children have learnt to create attacking continuity by supporting the player with the ball. They have learnt a new skill of using set plays in attack to create space for the ball carrier. They learnt to use the 3-step rule and to compare it to the 3-second pass option. The children have learnt how and when to change formation depending on if the team is losing or winning. In Year 6, the children are encouraged to observe and analyse their classmate’s performance.
In this unit, children were exposed to specific vocabulary such as: transition, principle, agility, observe and analyse.
Here are some images to show the skills the children have been learning in their lessons.
