Weekly Focused Assemblies 2023-2024
In this week’s assembly, we talked about that on December 3rd, it is International Day for Persons with Disabilities, and this important day is celebrated every year.
By holding this day each year, it is promoting the rights of people with disabilities in all areas of society. It aims to increase the awareness and wellbeing of disabled people in all aspects of their life.
By raising lots of awareness for these individuals we are educating others on different disabilities and how to treat others that have differences.
We talked about how this relates to the British Values and discussed how this day promotes the idea of mutual respect.
We also spoke about how the idea of this day aligns with our school values.
We then read an amazing story, based on a true story, about a boy that was born with a disability. We explored how different people treated him and how this must have made him feel. We also discussed how the main character’s attitude and perspective allowed him to be successful and achieve.
What did we learn?
We then listened to Pachelbel's Canon.
