Weekly Focused Assemblies
Week Beginning 23/01/23
In this week’s assembly, the children learned all about the iconic figure of Rosa Parkes (as early February is her birthday) and how she had grit, determination and confidence to stand up for what is morally correct for the good of all people.
The children heard about the time when she refused to give up her seat on a bus as she did not think the segregation laws were fair or equal. The arrest of Rosa Parkes and her famous stand against the authorities led to further support across the world to end segregation and racism. The children reflected on the huge impact that she had on the world and of the importance of being the very best versions of ourselves so that we can all positively impact the world around us.
During the assembly, the children listened to the song ‘Heal the World’ by Michael Jackson and the key lines of:
‘Heal the world, make it a better place. For you and for me and the entire human race’.
